Universae Ecclesiae for the Feast of our Lady of Fatima

Some may ask, “What is the significance of the release date of May 13 for Universae Ecclesiae?”

Connect the dots, dear people.

May 13, 1917 – Our Lady came to give dire warnings to the Church.

Msgr. Eugene Pacelli, the future Pope Pius XII:

“I am worried by the Blessed Virgin’s messages to Lucy of Fatima. This persistence of Mary about the dangers which menace the Church is a divine warning against the suicide of altering the Faith, in Her liturgy, Her theology and Her soul. … I hear all around me innovators who wish to dismantle the Sacred Chapel, destroy the universal flame of the Church, reject Her ornaments and make Her feel remorse for Her historical past.”

Draw your own conclusions, but I believe the date to be a significant signal grace from our Lady of Fatima.   Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!

Here is the document Universae Ecclesiae:

Yes, it could have been more. But…

In our particular situation, the document will be helpful because it dispels the erroneous notions of a certain individual who would accuse us of “exploiting” the parish since most of those who attended the May 8 mass were not parishioners.

“A coetus fidelium….. can be said to be stabiliter existens (“existing in a stable manner”), according to the sense of art. 5 § 1 of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, when it is constituted by some people of an individual parish who, ….come together by reason of their veneration for the Liturgy in the Usus Antiquior, and who ask that it might be celebrated in the parish church or in an oratory or chapel; such a coetus (“group”) can also be composed of persons coming from different parishes or dioceses, …”

God is with us. He wills the restoration of the TLM to ALL our altars. These times call for heroic virtue, and we must help one another with mutual support, with sacrifices and with prayers. Let’s use all the weapons at our disposal, including this latest document.

I am somewhat disappointed in that the document fails to be more direct, but this is still certainly very good news for those who desire the Traditional Latin Mass. Now we can only hope and pray that bishops and pastors take more note of this than they have of documents in the past.
