Mother’s Day TLM!

We have received word that a Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated on Sunday May 8, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 486 W. Merchant St., Kankakee!

Details forthcoming as we receive them.  This will be the first Sunday TLM at St. Rose since the N.O. was introduced.

Mass is being scheduled for 12:00 noon, to be offered by Fr. Danber.  Kankakee is approximately 60 miles south of Chicago.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: We will be serving a Mother’s Day meal immediately after Mass as a fund-raiser.  The Mass, delicious, home-cooked food,  piano entertainment! What else could a mother want?  Keep the date open and plan on being there!

Now Selling!

Tickets are now being sold for the Mother’s Day meal.  Friends, let us know how many you can sell.  We will see to it that you get them.

Mom’s and children under 12, $3;  all others $7.   All ticket sales will be included in a raffle.

Plans are also underway for a religious booth of  items which can be had for a donation.   Any donations of old rosaries, statutes, pre-VII books, medals, would be appreciated.  You can be sure they will find a good home!

While all will be invited to the Mass, invitations to the chicken dinner are being extended first to those who have assisted at previous TLM’s at St. Rose.   Feel free to purchase tickets for, or to notify interested family and friends with whom you would like to share the day.

All tickets sold will be included in a raffle.  (What the item will be, I cannot tell.)

After March 26, dinner tickets will be sold to the general public.  (Only 100 have been printed.

Update, March 31

As of today, approximately 52 meal tickets have been sold by word of mouth.  Yesterday, publicity notices went out to area churches asking them to please insert the information in their bulletins. Fliers have been printed and are ready for distribution.

The Knights of Columbus wish to publicize the event in one of the busiest sections of downtown Kankakee.  They have also offered to donate and bake the potatoes for us!

Two generous benefactors will be making a donation to provide for the meat, which will be ordered from one of the best restaurants.

What we need are donations of home-made deserts and salads, and your continued prayers!

Altar boy practice will be held on Saturday, May 7.

God bless, and thank you to all who are working hard to make this a successful event, all for the greater glory of God, to honor his Holy Mother,  for the good of souls!

    Paul,

The situation at St. Rose has changed. Traditionalists were made to feel unwelcome by the then Liturgical coordinator. We want nothing to do with him after he treated us so badly, and so have left the parish. (Although, I am still registered there.) There are no more TLM’s there.

Sorry for not answering you sooner. We have just gotten back from vacation.

I had been at St. Rose for the longest time. Perhaps I might know your wife. Did she attend St. Rose of Lima grade school?

If so, it would be nice to see if we know each other.

    God bless you!

  2. Paul says:

This is my wife’s home parish. We live out of state, but will be visiting in August. Does TLM happen every week?

    Peace,
    Paul

    Hi, Dixi

Do you perchance attend Mass at the Institute in Chicago?

By the way, I’ve posted the Michael Voris info.

    God bless you and yours!

Wow, I’m so happy I stumbled upon this blog! Glad to hear there’s a strong Latin mass community in Kankakee! If only I lived closer!

In St. Charles we’re having an event with the Catholic speaker Michael Voris of Real Catholic TV. There is a post on my blog (www.DixiforLife.blogspot.com) with details. Hopefully you can spread the word.

    God Bless!

Cory, it is good to hear from you! We will definitely take you up on the offer to serve! Man, do we need you!

There are some young boys (about 10 yrs. of age) wanting to help, but they must be instructed. We also need someone like you for set-up.

Thank you, Cory. I will contact you.

  6. Cory says:

I’ll be able to serve. I serve regularly at the Latin Mass in Joliet and I have at times served at the Institute Shrine in Chicago.

Are there any readers in the Kankakee area who are able to sing Gregorian chant, and who would be willing to assist with this Mass?
