Quiz: Which Cardinal Said This?

When I “adopted” a cardinal, this is the one I was hoping I would be assigned.  He is unabashedly supportive of the TLM, and he invited the Fraternity into his diocese.

Make some guesses before you turn to this site to find out his identity.  Here are some more clues  extracted from the article that might help you identify him:

Three years ago he described same-sex unions as an “aberration” and was equally blunt on the subject of gay people adopting children, asking: “Would you want to be adopted by a pair of faggots or lesbians?” His other betes noires include at least one other Christian denomination, “you’ve got to be shameless to be a Protestant”, and on women who he believes fail to dress and behave correctly: “Women shouldn’t go around being so provocative – that’s why so many get raped.

Professor de Mattei, Abbé de Nantes – Post-conciliar Crisis

The latest post on Rorate Caeli is the translation of an article written by historian Roberto de Mattei. The piece is quite sobering and it certainly will not resonate well with those of “pseudo-mystical optimism”.  (I will refrain from giving examples of those who, I believe, fall into this category.)

What I want to do here, is show that what de Mattei is saying is nothing new. The issues he brings up had already been addressed – with solutions even proposed –  by the late theologian Abbé  de Nantes.

Professor de Mattei:  In reality, that which is in crisis is not the “monocratic” government, which conforms to the Tradition of the Church, but the system of government born of the post-conciliar reforms, which in the last fifty years have expropriated the Papacy of its sovereign authority, redistributing the power among the Episcopal Conferences and an omnipotent Secretariat of State.

Abbé de Nantes wrote the following in 1970[God] entrusted his Pastors with the duty of maintaining an exact knowledge of his Revelation, through defining the truth and condemning falsehood throughout the ages. However, since the “pastoral” Council Vatican II and the encyclical of “dialogue” Ecclesiam suam, the Pope and bishops have, on various false pretexts, definitively abandoned the exercise of this supreme function of their Magisterium.

de Mattei:  But, most of all, Benedict XVI and his predecessor, even if very different in temperament, were victims of the myth of the collegiality of government which they both sincerely believed in, and so renounced taking on many responsibilities which could have resolved the problem of the apparent ungovernability of the Church.

The AbbéIf it is not Paul VI [The Abbé was writing in the’ 70’s] who is governing the Church, it is not Jesus Christ who is governing it invisibly, for He would not wish to substitute for his failing Vicar.  However, it is Satan who takes advantage of this resignation to lead the dance, to the despair of the good faithful and the triumphant joy of the wicked.

Then the Abbé continued to delineate the consequences of the abdication of authority which he called “criminal indifference”:

1.  The appearance and spread within the Church of heresy in every shape and form

2. The consequent downgrading of the true faith to the level of a personal opinion, moreover one which is held only by a wretched small minority

3.  The defacto disqualification of the present Magisterium of the Church, as such blindness and error are in contradiction with her very nature.

de Mattei: We need to pray and act, each one according to their possibilities, so that this crisis is brought to an end and the Church may show visibly that holiness and beauty which She has never lost, and will never lose until the end of time.

The Abbé: In virtue of the pledge given to His Church, it is clear that somehow [chastisements*] God will act so as to bring about that:

1.) every heresy shall be explicitly and effectively banned from His Holy Church

2.) that the true faith shall be solemnly proclaimed, with the rehabilitation of those who defended it and their recognition as the “faithful remnant”

3.)  that the continuity of the infallible teaching authority of the Magisterium shall be demonstrated by the formal condemnation of those who ruled over the Church during the time of error.  [If so, the post-conciliar popes will certainly not be formally canonized, will they?]

“There are two, possibly three, reasons why I am speaking to you in such grave terms today.  The first is in order that the punishment which, possibly, is close at hand, should not appear to you to be the result purely of chance or even merely the direct consequence of human wickedness.  The second is that each of you should make such use of these tribulations as their Author intended – that is, for the restoration of faith in those who exercise the Catholic Magisterium and through them in the rest of the Church – each making honourable amendment for their individual crimes.  For the punishment will not abate until they have admitted and recanted each one, down to the last.  And my third, desperate, reason is to try and shake the conscience of Pope Montini and the Bishops, as did Jonas….

———————————–

* “But now that they have all entrenched themselves in the disorder of their thinking and of their error, the Church can only be snatched from the power of Satan by direct divine intervention, that is, through a chastisement.  This is not so much a prophecy as a prediction based on intellectual assessment, enlightened by faith.”

Seed Wars

How could something so pleasant as selecting flower seeds for spring planting turn out to be such a downer, especially when the flowers are destined for Jesus on the altar?

I had made 9 selections from my Seymour’s Selected Seeds catalog, and listed them on the order form, a few of which are illustrated here:

”Oohhh, these will look absolutely beautiful on the altar,” I thought.  The anticipation was a joy in itself.

But before inserting the order into the envelope, I decided to do  a quick inquiry over the internet for reviews on this business. What I discovered was a real bummer.

I assume most of you have heard of the chemical company Monsanto. If you don’t already know, here is something about this powermonger I found in one of my searches:  “… they are buying up small and regional seed companies so that they can inseminate these formerly independent seed lines with their own GMO Frankenseeds. Their ultimate goal is to strip humanity of our natural, open-source heritage so that they can claim ownership of all plant life and charge a premium price to anyone who wishes to grow or reproduce the plants that they control — even crops that are unintentionally cross-pollinated!”

Oh, no!  What a reality check!  Shades of the Apocalypse – no food for those who don’t wear the mark of the Beast – Bl. Jacinta’s vision of starving people –  spiritual starvation followed by physical famine – Don Bosco’s vision’s.  Such thoughts crossed my mind.  And then this: “I will put enmities between thy..seed and her seed.”

We will get back to the spiritual.  For now, let’s continue with the wannabe god Monsanto.  Most of the seeds for home-gardeners are still non-GMO, nonetheless I do not believe we should be buying from Monsanto or their affiliates.  Monsanto’s tentacles have now nabbed Ruiter Seeds, which provides greenhouse growers, Seminis, for the open-field market, the International Seed Group, which provides for regional seed businesses, and now they also aim to acquire the small seed businesses.

I saw that Seymour’s Selected Seeds was on the “alert” list; so abandoning my plan to order from them, I looked to another source from which I had previously ordered: Abundant Life Seed Foundation.  Lo and behold, to my surprise, I found that they had merged with Terratorial which uses a Monsanto affiliate – Seminis –  as a supplier of seed.

Also on the “red flag” list are other gardening centers from which I had once ordered.  You would be surprised to find how many places have gone to the seedy side. (pun intended)  See list.

In the end, I wound up placing an order with Clear Creek Seed  who just happened to have an ad in the latest issue of  the Remnant.  Their selection of flower seeds is quite small in comparison with Seymour’s, and the flowers I will be planting will be much humbler and ordinary, but I don’t think our Lord will mind one bit.

When God in the Garden of Eden pronounced the opposition between the devil’s seed and our Lady’s seed, he also foretold that, “She shall crush thy head.”  We should remember this promise of victory throughout the tribulations that lie ahead.  Not only in Scripture, but also in many private prophecies are the faithful comforted and given hope; those “bummer” moments in life should never give way to despondency.   I am reminded of what our Blessed Mother promised Sr. Lucia, i.e., those of the seed of the Virgin who embrace the devotion to Her Immaculate Heart, “..will be loved by God as flowers placed by me before His throne.”

It is with those humble, little “flowers” which will form Her heel, that the Immaculata will win fresh victories far greater than anyone could have imagined. “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

“…the rainbow of peace will appear over the earth…Over the whole world there will appear a sun as bright as the flames of the Cenacle, such as will never be seen from here until the end of time.” (-St. John Bosco)

How glorious will be those days when the Virgin most Holy, will crush Satan’s head along with all his “Frankenseeds”!  Little flowers, perk up!  We belong to the Immaculata! Love Her, cling to Her, serve Her well and the victory is ours.

The Fatima Connection: A Bishop Dressed in White

Let us continue praying for the Holy Father Benedict XVI.  I really believe we are reaching a tragic denouement in the unfolding drama of the Fatima  revelations.   As Catholics, in general, have not heeded our Lady’s warnings, as even the “good” seem so cold and indifferent to her pleadings to stop offending God, and since spiritual punishments (faithless, scandalous pastors, for example) have not swayed people from continuing on the road to perdition, God’s Mercy-Justice will be made manifest to His Church and to the entire world.

Those who take refuge in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I am sure, will have nothing to fear, for at Akita, our Lady said, “Pray very much the prayers of the rosary. I alone am able still to save you from calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.”

Immaculate Heart of Mary, be  my safety and my refuge! Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation!

He will be “Bishop emeritus of Rome”; he will not return to being a Cardinal.

But he will continue to be addressed as “His Holiness”.

I had been mulling over in my mind that vision of the three seers of Fatima in which they saw “a bishop dressed in white” whom they believed to be the Pope.  That phrase has always been an enigma to Fatima scholars. But if our present Holy Father is that Pope of the 3rd secret, than the phrase would make perfect sense.  What remains to be seen is whether His Holiness will continue to wear white.  The whole thing is so apocalyptic and almost surreal.

The following is my translation of an article from the Spanish site ABC.es

++++

As of March 1, the proper address for Joseph Ratzinger will remain “His Holiness Benedict XVI,” as announced by Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, a sort of constitutional court making the authentic interpretation of the rules legal.

Speaking to the newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, the Italian Cardinal said that in a similar way as retired bishops and archbishops, Joseph Ratzinger will also be ” bishop emeritus of Rome.” However, he will not return to being Cardinal, the position he left in accepting the papacy in April 2005.

The Vatican’s top lawyer also announced that the provisions which the Pope may approve in the coming days to allow for an earlier conclave if so wish the cardinals, “will not be a reform of the Apostolic Constitution Universi Dominici Gregis but will merely be a derogation of an Article only for this specific case.” The reason is that “there is not sufficient time to deal with a modification of the Apostolic Constitution.”

Opposition to convening an earlier Conclave

More and more prominent Cardinals are opposed to advancing the start of the conclave. They believe that time is required for study and discussion to better understand what has developed in the Roman Curia in recent years, and to think through any necessary remedies, so that the next pope has in his hands a more effective instrument, so that he will not be left with surprises and disappointments as has happened too many times in this pontificate.

“And reigning will be he, the antipope……”

scaledULRA_Fatima 001

Sister Lucia revealed that the Secret of Fatima is contained in chapters 8-13 of the Apocalypse.

oh, oh….

Look at what philosopher and theologian Enrico Maria Radaelli [edited to correct the name] is saying about the papal resignation:

“Not considering these facts is in my view a murderous blow to dogma. Resigning means losing the universal name of Peter and going back to the private being of Simon, but this cannot be, because the name of Peter, of Cephas, of Rock, is given on a divine plane to a man who, in receiving it, no longer makes only himself, but ‘makes Church.’ Without counting the fact that since the self-removed pope cannot in reality resign, the incoming pope, despite himself, will be nothing but an antipope. And reigning will be he, the antipope, not the true pope.”

Cardinal Mahony Petition

Update, Feb. 20: A concerned commenter asked:  “Are you sure you want to be involved with anything initiated by Catholics United?”

I had forgotten about those people, the leftest group in the Church.  It is interesting that they would launch this campaign against one of their own kind.   A house divided will not stand, so in my opinion, I say, “Please, go ahead, CU. I would be happy to lend you a hand with this one.”

It will be up to individual consciences to decide whether to sign or not.

Frankly, I consider petitions to be rather worthless, but sometimes, one feels that he is at least doing something!   Doing nothing is not an option.  Just pray if you would rather not sign.

Regarding the controversy over Mahony’s voting in the conclave, one newspaper has written, “But across the sprawling archdiocese, Mahony’s vote in the conclave is being greeted by many others with a shrug.”

The publication continues:

“Others were openly supportive of the man who led the nation’s largest archdiocese from 1985 to 2011.

“Mike Flota, another parishioner at St. Agnes Church, said he was upset about current controversy surrounding the L.A. diocese. But he puts his trust in God’s hands, and said Mahony is just another sinner in need of forgiveness.

‘Nobody is perfect,’ Flota, 65, said. ‘He feels remorse.’

Flota added that Mahony’s life experience and vision as a more liberal cardinal would bring wisdom to the conclave.

Yep, that’s what some are saying!  Pitiful, isn’ it?

IMPORTANT !   Please, sign this petition, and be sure to pray that the notorious Cardinal Mahony will not have the gall to show up at the conclave to determine who the next vicar of Christ will be.

Prophecies for our Times – St. Hildegard

You will find here a few more paragraphs on the prophecies of St. Hildegard.  These are my translations from Spanish though the original source is from the French, Voix Prophétiques: Ou, Signes, Apparitions Et Prédictions Modernes Touchant Les Grands Événements De La Chrétienté Au Xixe Siècle Et Vers L’approche De La Fin Des Temps, Volume 2 (French Edition).

In typing these, I recall that Sr. Lucia had mentioned that the 3rd part of the secret of Fatima could be found in the book of the Apocalypse, specifically in Ch. 8-13, and in the Gospels.  I think we are in that time period when there will  arise the anti-Christ and the false prophet about which Scripture warns: they who will “deceive (if possible) even the elect.” Perhaps that is why Our Lady singled out Portugal as being one nation that would retain the dogma of the faith, implicating thereby, that other nations would not

Read chapter 13 of the Apocalypse where is mentioned the “Beast of the Sea” and the “Beast of the Earth”.

These passages from St. Hildegard’s writings, though, should help us to see past the infernal darkness that is surely coming. Meanwhile, let’s pray for each other, for all the elect for the grace of final perseverance.   May your Lent be most fruitful in drawing you intimately into the most Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

+++++

But when society has been completely purified by this tribulation, weary from so many horrors, men will fully return to the practice of justice and finally subject themselves to the laws of the Church and the Holy Fear of God which make us so pleasing to Him.  Consolation will follow desolation much as the New Covenant followed the Old Covenant; likewise, prosperity in the days of well-being will assuage the anguish resulting from the ruination; if it is not thus, during which is prolonged with impunity the inconstancy and scandals of the world, the truth would be darkened in such a manner that the towers of the cathedral in Jerusalem would be broken down, and the institutions of the Church be trampled as if God did not exist for men.  At the time of restoration, justice and peace will be re-established by decrees so new and so little expected, that the people, full of admiration, will in a grand manner profess that nothing like it had ever been seen.

This peace of the world of the last days, prefigured by the peace that preceded the first coming of the Son of God, will, however, be limited; the approach of the last day will prevent men from giving themselves fully to happiness, but they will hasten to ask Almighty God to fill them with all justice in the Catholic faith.  Jews will join Christians, recognizing with joy the entrance [into the world]of Him whom until then, they had denied had appeared in this world.

This peace will be very great and will perfect that figurative peace which existed at the time of the first coming of the Son of God. Then, there will appear saints admirably gifted with the grace of prophecy.  As announced in the name of the Almighty by the prophet Isaiah (ch. 4, 2): “In that day the bud of the Lord shall be in magnificence and glory, and the fruit of the earth shall be high, and a great joy to them that shall have escaped of Israel.”  In those days, the blessing [from on high] will cause to drop from the mildest atmosphere gentle rains which will result in the earth being covered with the sweetest sprays of greenery and fruits, because men will devote themselves to all works of justice; this in contrast to the days before, days made so desolate by the harsh voice of the unchained elements caused by the sins of men which reduced them to the impotency of producing anything good.  With zeal, Princes will rival with other towns in making the law of God reign everywhere; iron is no longer be used but to cultivate the land and provide for the necessities of life, etc.

There will be no limit to the exuberant sentiment of heretics and Jews.  In short, they will exclaim, “The hour of our own justification has arrived; the bonds of error have fallen at our feet; we’ve thrown off the very heavy burden carried for so long because of our transgressions.”  The crowds of faithful will be increased significantly by the large number of pagans attracted by such splendor and abundance.  After their baptism, these will join believers in proclaiming Christ as in the time of the Apostles.  Addressing themselves to the Jews and heretics still hardened, they will say: “What you call your glory will be eternal death and he whom you honor as your chief, will perish before your eyes in the midst of the most appalling horror and the most dangerous for you. In that day you will heed our plea, under the rays of Mary, Star of the Sea.
