This past Sunday, May 11, 2014, the Shrine of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in Chicago was host to the most Reverend Archbishop François R. Bacqué, Apostolic Nuncio and Apostolic Visitor. Also present were the Institute’s Prior General, Msgr. Wach and the Vicar General, Msgr. Schmitz.
The solemn pontifical Mass was the first TLM Mass celebrated in the U.S. by the archbishop, so it was, indeed, a great honor to be there for this occasion.
The message that the Archbishop wanted to leave with the faithful was one of hope. He made use of that word several times in his sermon, and he concluded with a quote from Léon Bloy:”There is only one tragedy in the end: not to have been a saint.”
