The Return of the King?

“Shortly before his death Padre Pio received in San Giovanni Rotondo, the of Duke of Aosta, Amadeo of Savoy with his wife Claudia de Orleans and their son of a few months, Aimon of Savoy.

“When Padre Pio blessed the child, his face [Padre Pio’s] lit up exclaiming, ‘Child, you have before you honor and majesty!’

“In fact, before World War II, in 1938, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina , upon meeting the Princess of Piedmont, Mary Joseph, future and last queen of Italy as the wife of King Humberto II, told her that the House of Savoy had lost the throne of Italy.

“He warned her to be very careful because of the fast speed of unfolding events that would be taking place during the following years: to be ready, since everything would be accomplished very quickly!

“After World War II, during the exile of the Savoy Family in Geneva, Queen Maria José kept a correspondence with the friar of Pietrelcina who comforted her because of the sufferings she, as well as her whole family were undergoing by living in exile and away from their beloved Italy.

“In this correspondence, Padre Pio revealed some very important prophecies:

“Your Majesty, the monarchy will return to Italy and a relative of yours will become king; the main branch (of the Italian Royal House) will become withered like the leaves of a tree. But ‘a stem will sprout bearing many fruits, restoring honor and strength to the family, thus restoring the kingdom.

“He explained that ‘a different branch of the House of Savoy will restore the monarchy in Italy, bringing the House of Savoy back to the ancient glories and ancient lusters.”
