Father Stravinskas’s opposition to home-schooling ( and the Tridentine Mass) is no surprise. I was told about his opposition to both, way back in October after he preached a retreat in Michigan.
Thank God that we do find support among some of our clergy! See here. And here. And here.
Fr. Stravinskas’ nonsense about psychological damage to children remaining with their self-sacrificing, dedicated, staunchly Catholic mothers for too long, is a statement one would expect from a nanny- state socialist. May I remind Fr. Stravinskas that Our Lord remained with his Mother until he was 33.
I think Father’s vision is clouded by his distaste for the TLM. By and large, Catholic homeschooling families tend to gravitate towards the Tridentine Mass. His main problem, then, would be with the TLM. That is my opinion. If homeschoolers flocked to the N.O., would he be so vociferous against homeschoolers?? I think not.
As one commentator on a Catholic forum stated, the “Fr. Stravinskas’s” are becoming irrelevant. The Church will slowly regain her mooring without them.
And Fr. Stravinskas thinks that we’re getting a lot of vocations from those sent to regular schools? What rock has he been hiding underneath?
By the way, Fr. Stravinskas, the percentage of my home-schooled grads taking religious vows stands at 25%.
