The collection of choir books from the National Museum of the Viceroyalty (MNV), composed of 90 copies dating from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, is undergoing work of conservation, cataloging and digitizing, in order to ensure its preservation and to make their contents available. They have remained protected for several centuries between large, wood sheets. Work has begun with attention to 14 pieces of priceless works of art and music.
Now kept in the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), these New Spain and European volumes of musical works were once used for the religious celebrations of the colonial era in Mexico, and are considered to be the most important collection of its kind at the INAH.
